Year 2-8

Your First Over Starts Here

Soft ball, small bats, and Saturday mornings that turn into a lifetime of summers. Juniors is where every Lion begins.

Three Grades, One Bat Size Up Each Year

Kids move through Juniors at their own pace - the ball gets a little harder, the boundary a little further, until they're ready for Colts.

Year 2-3

SmashPlay Cricket

Soft incrediballs, no pads, no pressure. Every kid bats, bowls and fields every single week - it's cricket as a game, not a trial.

Year 4

Junior Blast

A smaller hard-ish ball, proper overs, and their first taste of a real Saturday morning fixture against another club.

Year 5-8

Junior A

Full-size gear, a genuine leather ball, and structured nets that set them up for trials into the Colts squad.

What to Bring

Whites or club colours, sports shoes, and a labelled bag. Loan bats and pads are available - no need to buy before trying. Helmets are mandatory for batters and wicketkeepers from Junior A (hardball) up.

Weather & Cancellations

Cricket Wellington posts ground closures on Facebook (@CricketWellingtonInc) as close to 7am as possible each Saturday. No update by 7:30am means no changes - head to your game as usual.

Good Sideline Behaviour

Be a positive role model, focus on development over the result, and respect the coach's and umpires' calls. Sideline abuse isn't tolerated.
